Obituary for Katrena Rena Cooper

Katrena Rena Cooper, 49 of Memphis, Tennessee, was born to Charlie Wesley Cooper and Mae Francis Pearson on March 3, 1969.  God called her to go home, and she answered on January 11, 2019. She accepted Christ at an early age at Early Grove Baptist Church.  She rededicated her life to Christ at Greater New Liberty Baptist Church.  She continued her faithful walk with Christ at Brown Missionary Baptist Church.  She attended Central "The" High School (Class of 1987) where she was involved in many social and athletic organizations. She attended Shelby State Community College and Draughons Junior College where she received her Associates Degree as a Nursing Assistant. Also known as Hurricane Katrina, she met and bonded with many co-workers and friends.  The bulk of her work history was dedicated to being a floor supervisor and dealer in the Gaming industry.  She started her career at The Grand Casino, followed by Harrah's Casino, and finally Resorts Casino Tunica.   She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grand-diva Kamiyah and little princess Nevaeh.  She was a very generous person who touched the lives of many people as she loved to help others at any time with anything.  She had a huge infectious smile that lit up the room, and she loved to take photos, especially with the duck lip pose.  She was extremely smart and very creative.  She was a restaurant connoisseur and enjoyed eating out at many places.  She loved shopping, and one of her favorite brands was Michael Kors(MK) better known to her as Ms. Katrena.  She was the life of the party and would have you rolling on the floor laughing with her blunt and sassy humor. She was fortunate enough to find true love with her fiance Tyrone Townes.  They were together close to 20 years, and they enjoyed fine dining, traveling to various places, and spending time with their family.  Together they had five children (Kesha, Ronnie, Jaz, Lil Ty, and Te Te). She was preceded in death by her mother, Mae Francis Pearson Shaw, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her father, Charlie Cooper;  fiance, Tyrone Townes Sr.; two daughters, Lakesha Shelby and Jazmyne Conway (Phillip); a son, Ronnie Webb Jr.;  two stepchildren, Tyrone Townes Jr.  and Tatyiana Townes; one sister, Tanya Shaw;  one brother, Kelvin Cooper; a stepfather, Calvin Shaw; two stepsisters,  Ericka Shaw and Tara Shaw; a lifelong friend and sister, Toni Haley;  two granddaughters, Kamiyah and Neveah;  two godchildren, Me Me and Mario;  a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
