Obituary for Lillian Elizabeth Bridgewater

Lillian Bridgewater was born on October 11, 1961, in Quonset Point Naval AirStation to Charles and Claudette White. The family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee when she was two years old. Lillian’s parents were of Lutheran Faith and worshipped at Cross of Calvery Lutheran Church, before joining Greater Imani Church The Cathedral of Faith in Her faith and family was the foundation that supported each and everything she was a part of in life. She was known for her loving personality and caring spirit. Lillian was a Teacher at Keystone Elementary and Librarian at Shelby OaksElementary. She worked for 27 years, doing something that she truly enjoyed. As theLibrarian, she held Book Fairs twice a year. There were many times where children would want a book but did not have available funds. Lillian utilized hundreds of dollars of her own money to bring joy to the children at her school. Almost everywhere she went, she would run into former students that remembered her and the impact she had on their lives. Her bright smile, determination, and Faith allowed her to touch the lives of thousands of students and adults. Lillian departed this life on Saturday, January 12, 2019, and went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her sister, Monica A. White. Lillian is survived by her husband, Ralph Bridgewater, to forever cherish her memories; parents, Charles and Claudette White; brother, Drexel White (Pam) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and, a host of family and friends.
